Hey, here it began all. I got a hutch service sms from Tarun Maheshwari yesterday at about 10 pm that he wants to share good news with me so he asked me to come online; I did the same. I was almost sure that he got through some IIM as this result was expected. And I was right. So Tarun is finally in LXG of IIM L or Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (http://www.iiml.ac.in/institute/index.html).

Cheers !!
And that’s also means another grand treat. And why not I deserve the treat.. !! Why? Well read what Tarun has written for me in my e- diary. Tarun write for me, “ I will not forget the days of our CAT preparation. Coz it brings out the feeling of yeh pyaas hai badi in me. You know buddy, I wasn’t serious about CAT, but Coz of you only, I joined CL.. I am speaking frankly, I was not determined to prepare for the CAT till VIth sem.. But when I saw and feel ur determination.. I told myself that I should start thinking big”

So finally Tarun invited me for the dinner treat at Bridges. We really had the great time with some dozens of MNNIT together celebrating the success of Maheshwari.

After the dinner and coming back to hostel, I invited Tarun to watch a hindi movie today. I told Tarun, Raina and Sharad to come along and we four watched “ Waqt”- the movie. I would rate this movie better than average. With saying Mr IIM, Raina and Sharad good-bye I logged on to my yahoo messenger for a chat and to write this post.

It’s not Mission accomplished Its Project Accomplished. It can be said the other way too.
Many friends of mine have asked me about the project, which I am involved in for last 1 year. The main aim of writing this post is to clear your queries regarding my B.Tech Project.

Here are the FAQs related to my project.( These are the question asked by the people before, during and on the last day of the project presentation to me.)

Q. What’s the name of my project?
A. Energy Recovery from a hotel. In this project, we applied and hone our skills in such diverse fields as energy, thermal and design engineering, economic analysis and computer programming, as well as realize the importance of applying them to the problems that face our country

Q. Who is my project guide?
A. Dr Ravi Prakash. He is reader in Mechanical Engineering Department in MNNIT, Allahabad. He is M.E. (Energy Engineering) University of Surrey, U.K and Ph.D, University of Allahabad. His Area of Interest: Renewable Energy, Energy conservation, Refrigeration &Air-conditioning, Energy and Environmental management

Q. Is this project worth doing or you just passed the time?
A. Yes, of course this project was a real life project. Not at all farzi

Q. Is it Design or Fabrication, Core or Software related one?
A. In a way I can say that it’s a Mechanical Core plus Software related design project

Q. Did you have any firing during the presentation ever?
A. No Never. I guess our group sailed through the question very easily. In other words one can say that we have the coolest presentation.

Q. What are the names of the faculty members in your panel?
A. The major faculty includes Dr Satish Chand, Dr. Trilokinath, Dr. Ravi Prakash, Dr Sanjeev Sinha, Dr. L C Mahlotra.

Q. Do you ever regret taking project under your project guide?
A. What regret? No, I should say I was the luckiest person to get such a polite, calm and logical but cool minded project guide at the rank of 13th. Mine group was M 13.

Q. What’s the scope of your project?
A. Project has a high scope. Not only Kanha Sayam but also other hotel can also implement the design, suggestion given by us in the report.

Q. What was the time span for the completion of the project?
A. As per the department curriculum my project was a year round project. I started this project with my group mates in late August,2004 and is completed on 23rd Arpil,2005.

Q. Who are your group mates in the project? And to whom you will thank the most for the working during the project?
A. My group mates include Anil Raina Debashish Burman and Ezhil Vendan with myself being Project leader. Well I cannot compare the work % wise done by my project mate, as all have been there for project on request. Raina excels in Presentation and calculation; Burman was good in software and analysis part and Ezhil made great sketches and Charts.

Q. Justify the need of your project.
A. Electricity is a precious and limited resource that should be conserved, and reserved for applications where other energy sources cannot be more efficiently harnessed. We targeted the real-world case of Hotel Kanha Shyam as a spring-board for ideas and energy recovery techniques
.

What was the Project Methodology?
From the data collected from the hotel we calculated the cooling load and electrical loads. We compared the calculated loads and Tonnage of the A.C. plant and see if the system is under designed, perfectly all right or over designed.

We explored the possibility of recovering energy from the hotel. Energy can be recovered from the exhaust of the diesel generator by a heat exchanger. Also there is a possibility of recovering heat from cooling water and lubricating oil. We can also employ a Recuperator between the incoming hot fresh air and the out going cold stale air. The cold stale air will reduce the temperature of incoming hot air. Through this we intend to decrease the ventilation load.

We explored the possibility of meeting hot water requirements by employing a solar panel.

We designed software for load calculation for any building and test our software for the case under consideration.

After that we will perform economic analysis and see the payback period of our installed system.

Q. How much marks you got in the 7th semester and how many marks do you expect in the 8th semester in your project?
A. I got 48 marks out of 50 marks in 7th semester and expect to get 190+ marks in the 8th semester work.

Q. How thick is your project report?
A. Well thickness really do not matter, anyways it was about 70 pages thick.

Here are the memories of memorable time I spend on last 24 hours. These days were really worth remembering and I hope I will remember them.

The 24 hours of memories started with leaving hostel for Fresher cum Farewell party. Yaa it was MP group party @ Regency Hotel Allahabad on 9th April 2005 which was scheduled to held at 8 pm sharp. (MP group party for the last 4 years was held in Regency only!) So after we Final Year MP guys reached there, we had a warm welcome with firecrackers, rose and photography. Introduction, Dance, Jokes, Drama, Beer .... (Although juniors had some slaps from some seniors which I hate like anything). Everything is just too good. After we returned to the MNNIT Student Club, we had a HOT SEAT session. What you do not know what is HOT SEAT?? Hmm.. Its like asking any question to the person at the hot seat and person have to answer it straight from the heart independent of He/She is out or not :). By the way I was out at that time.

I came back to my room at 4:00 am on 10th April, and there was a hard knock at my door at 5:00 am. Oh God! I just forgot I have to leave for a trip. So there I get up after having less than one hour sleep. The tour was organized by the, for the and with the Mechanical MNNIT 2k5 batch. It included Anurag, Ariz, Kuwar, Raina Verma, Shashi, Verma ji, Senghar, Ateet, Anil, Myself. The tour was really great. We reached to Vindham Fall that is at 140 kms from Allahabad at about 9 am where we had some cute group photos. Then after that we moved to Vindhayachal to pray Mata ji (Its second day of Navrathi). After having blessing from Maata @ Vindhyachal we moved to Sitamani, which is peaceful place. It is the same place Shri Sita Mata had her Saadhana Samadhi. And yes here stand tallest statue of Shri Hanuman Ji. Any guesses? It’s about 108 fts. After a stint stay at Sitamani we are back to MNNIT at about 8 pm @ 10th April.

What a memorable 24 hours (Although my head is knocking like hell as I did not had sleep for last 50 hours). I wish time wheel roll back. But I guess it’s not possible. But the memories will always remain embedded in my mind and head. It was living a full day life as if there is dooms day ahead.

Hi Friends,

So last 30 days in MNNIT. Guys busy in writing diaries for friends, burning software and videos CDs, some busy taking group snaps, some going for their fresher parties, farewell, job treats; some applying for off campus, some working on Souvenir (Final Year Magazine), some waiting for there Appointment letter, some are working on projects, some doing studies as usual, and very some waiting for there call for aided MS, and some waiting for CAT final results. This is all about guys I do not know what gals are busy in?

There are somany things but I do not feel like doing anything. I do not know what has happened to me. I have been thinking, (thinking really hard) about what I got and what I lost in these last four years.

Those "Night outs" .................those "Mid night tea`s" those "B`day bumbs" ......."Old torn Jeanz"...........those............."Long chatz"..........."Pinches n slapz"............."Crushes on palz"..................."Getting kicked out of class"............"Struggle for markz"............"Writing on deskzzz"..................."Fight with lecturerzz" ................."Tearz for love"..................."Feel for placementzz"..........n just everything...............thatz college life......................i called "HEAVEN"

Today I am going to tell you some thing about
The best days in my life i.e. my college days
When I was in first year (the most enjoyable year of my life in spite of all ragging, boring classes, shit mess food)
I used to get up early in the morning for college and used to hated it
I tried to complete all my assignment and tried to be regular at classes
I know I am not going well in the past and present
But nothing seemed working
When I look back now that summer last forever
And If I had choice I just scream and say, “Those were the best days of my life”
But the days passed
Then I loved to my college
I started playing during the night having fun, movies, playing music, browsing Internet @ room.
Having fun with friends
Burning down things
Eating, drinking at parties!!
But man we had great time
But as its said Nothing last forever ……………never.
Its has been a long time since I was a fresher
And now the time has changed but one thing I can surely say
“Those were the Best days of my life and now if I am given a chance I would like to felt back to college as a fresher” But I guess its not possible or is it?
But as I walked but my past the memories are still fresh how can I forget my best days of my life.
My days in college are the best days of my life.
